RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The formation of sandwiched vertebrae (SDVs) after percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) or percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) has become a common phenomenon. Whether SDVs are more likely to fracture is still controversial. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to provide medical evidence for whether SDVs are more prone to refracture than non-SDVs (NSDVs) after PVP or PKP. METHODS: This study was conducted in accordance with the criteria of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Several databases, including PubMed, Embase, Medline databases, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, and Weipu, were thoroughly searched for relevant studies included from any point up until June 2022. Statistical analyses were performed using Revman 5.4. RESULTS: A total of 4052 individuals from 9 studies were enrolled. Overall, patients with SDV presented more risk to have refracture than patients with NSDV (OR = 1.57, P = 0.04). The incidences of refracture were comparable between the 2 cohorts in studies with a follow-up time less than 3 years (OR = 1.28, P = 0.49). However, patients with SDV were more prone to have refracture than patients with NSDV in studies with a follow-up time longer than 3 years (OR = 1.92, P = 0.009). Moreover, patients with SDV were more likely to have refracture than patients with NSDV in studies that involved both PVP and PKP (OR = 1.62, P = 0.002). In addition, age, low bone density, and postoperative kyphosis angle of sandwich fracture segments >10° were independent factors to predict refracture. CONCLUSIONS: Patients with SDV were more likely to have refracture after PVP or PKP, especially when the follow-up time was longer than 3 years.

RESUMO

Heteroatom incorporation can effectively suppress the phase transition of layered sodium-ion battery cathode, but heteroatom behaviors during operating conditions are not completely understood at the atomic scale. Here, density functional theory calculations are combined with experiments to explore the mitigation behavior of Mg dopant and its mechanisms under operating conditions in P2-Na0.67Ni0.33Mn0.67O2. The void formed by Na extraction will pump some Mg dopants into Na layers from TM layers, and the collective diffusion of more than one Mg ion most likely occurs when the Mg content is relatively high in the TM layer, finally aggregating to form Mg-enrich regions (i.e., Mg segregation) apart from Ni vacancies. The void-pump-effect-induced Mg segregation effectively suppresses the P2-O2 phase transition owing to the stronger Mg-O electrostatic attraction that enhances the integrate of two adjacent oxygen layers and prevents the crack growth by mitigating the lattice volume variation under high-voltage cycling. Our work provides a fundamental understanding of heteroatom mitigation behavior in layered cathodes at the atomic level for next-generation energy storage technologies.

RESUMO

Vinegar is one of the most widely used acidic condiments. In recent decades, rapid advances have been made in the area of vinegar research, and the intellectual structure pertaining to this domain has significantly evolved. Thus, it is important that scientists keep abreast of associated developments to ensure an appropriate understanding of this field. To facilitate this current study, a bibliometric analysis method was adopted to visualize the knowledge map of vinegar research based on literature data retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. In total, 883 original research and review articles from between 1998 and 2019 with 19,663 references were analyzed by CiteSpace. Both a macroscopical sketch and microscopical characterization of the whole knowledge domain were realized. According to the research contents, the main themes that underlie vinegar research can be divided into six categories, that is, microorganisms, substances, health functions, production technologies, adjuvant medicines, and vinegar residues. In addition to the latter analysis, emerging trends and future research foci were predicted. Finally, the evolutionary stage of vinegar research was discerned according to Shneider's four-stage theory. This review will help scientists to discern the dynamic evolution of vinegar research, as well as highlight areas for future research.

RESUMO

Ginsenoside Rh2 (GRh2) and ginsenoside Rg3 (GRg3) are primary bioactive components in Panax ginseng. The present study aimed to investigate the underlying mechanisms of apoptotic celldeath induced by GRh2 and GRg3 in human leukemia Jurkat cells. The Cell Counting kit8 assay was used to determine cell proliferation. Apoptosis was detected by nuclear morphologic observation by Hoechst 33342 staining and Annexin V-allophycocyanin and 7-amino-actinomycin D assay. mitoTEMPO, a mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger, was used to examine the effects of mitochondrial ROS on cell viability and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). Finally, the expression levels of numerous mitochondrialassociated apoptosis proteins were assessed by western blot analysis. These results demonstrated that GRh2 and GRg3 inhibited cell growth and induced apoptosis, and that GRh2 had greater cytotoxicity than GRg3. GRh2 induced generation of more mitochondrial ROS compared with GRg3 in Jurkat cells; however, this effect was ameliorated by subsequent treatment with mitoTEMPO. Furthermore, excess mitochondrial ROS induced by GRh2 was more potent than GRg3 in inhibiting cell proliferation and reducing MMP. In addition, expression levels of apoptosisassociated proteins were significantly increased in Jurkat cells treated with GRh2 than GRg3. In conclusion, these findings suggested that GRh2 and GRg3 induce mitochondrial-associated apoptosis by increasing mitochondrial ROS in human leukemia Jurkat cells. GRh2 may more effectively inhibit cell growth and accelerate apoptosis than GRg3. This study provides a potential novel strategy for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
